Heritage

Two seemingly incompatible enthusiasms characterise the North as it faces the millennium: the onslaught of technology and a revival of Traditions and Culture.

Historically the Heritage and Culture of Aboriginal people have been woven closely together. By developing a website for this purpose, we can explore our people and their communities, our past, and our present through the use of technology.

The people of the North believe that we cannot understand others before we have genuinely listened to them and know of their ways.

We must recognise that we will never understand others until we have learned something of their Heritage and Culture.

It is in this spirit that we bid you welcome to learn of ours.

Visit Kayas.ca(http://www.kayas.ca) - the word Kayas itself means "long ago" in the Cree language. The title is appropriate as the website explores Northern Saskatchewan aboriginal cultures as were long ago. The site also documents and presents, with the use of multimedia, modern day examples of keeping traditions alive by practicing and sharing traditional cultural pursuits. The site is presented in partnership with Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).
