Day NIne: Lining, big water and putting on the kilometers. 7/27/2004
This was another adventure filled day not unlike any of the previous days. We stopped at Pilot's Lodge for lunch, and found a note left by the paddling group in front of us. They had stopped in, had a look around and left to catch some fish for lunch. At Brink Rapids we were forced to line our canoes with a short carry mid-way down the rapids.
When we arrived at Brassy Rapids we ended up committing ourselves to the right channel and found huge boat-filling haystacks near the bottom followed by some dangerous wrap-around boulders. We all enjoyed the ride by were able to recognize in retrospect that things could have easily taken a bad turn here.
After paddling a considerable distance down the river to a location described in one of the trip descriptions as a five star camping spot we were disappointed to find the paddling group ahead of us had the same idea. We roughed out a camp further downstream with a western exposure and enjoyed yet another sunset on the river under clear skies.
